Homeopathy is practiced by many different practitioners although some may not have studied homeopathy to a professional level. Some homeopaths work under their medical licenses-as MDs, NDs, PAs, LNPs, DOs, etc. There are also many professionally trained homeopaths who, because of the lack of formal, legal recognition for homeopathy, are in the process of establishing a distinct profession of homeopaths. These practitioners may not be licensed in other professions, but are professionally trained in the practice of homeopathy.
Only a few states have a limited licensing for homeopathic practitioners including Connecticut (for homeopathic MDs only) and Arizona (for homeopathic medical assistants working under an MD).
There are a few states, Rhode Island, California, Minnesota, Idaho, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and Louisiana that have passed health freedom legislation that allow for the practice of homeopathy as well as other healing modalities. There are similar efforts underway in many other states. Oklahoma law also allows the practice of unlicensed homeopathy.

The North American Society Position on Health Care and Policy
Each and every one of us has the right to make our own unique health care choices to keep ourselves healthy and happy. As Americans, we believe these freedoms are intrinsic to all. NASH believes that public policy and laws must allow for freedom of choice. An acceptable balance must be created between individual rights to self-determination, and the government’s concerns for public safety.
Medical intervention is a personal consideration and choice. There are numerous factors that must be considered in each individual case. NASH advocates each individual doing as much research as they need to feel satisfied with the choices they make for themselves and their family; furthermore all of the information about potential benefits or harm must be available to everyone to make appropriate choices.
NASH supports the National Health Freedom Coalition and NASH is aligned with their goals and mission.
