On April 16, 2018 Cristina Garelli, CCH, RSHom(NA) and Wanda Smith-Schick, CCH shared their journey of integrating homeopathy as a complementary and alternative modality of treatment of veterans, homeless and marginalized individuals. Their journey started in 2011 with one clinic in San Francisco and they have since expanded their services to three additional locations. Their all-volunteer clinics treat veterans, homeless and the under-served in San Francisco and the Silicon Valley. The combined clinics have over 500 intakes and follow-ups.
During this webinar they will discuss their clinical work and share some cases of PTSD.

Cristina obtained her DiHom certificate from the British Institute of Homeopathy in 2010. She also studied with many well-known homeopaths including Will Taylor, Lynn Amara, Andre Saine, and Farokh Master. She started volunteering at the HIP clinics in 2011. In 2014 she obtained my CCH certification, became a Registered member of NASH and also became HIP’s clinical director. In 2017 Cristina was awarded the BAHA Service Award Certificate. She has a working knowledge of the Spanish language which allows her to conduct homeopathic interviews with Spanish speakers. She is also a certified yoga teacher and uses her knowledge of body movement and energy flow to complement her homeopathic practice.
Wanda Smith-Schick, CCH
Wanda became interested in homeopathy after working in the entertainment industry for many years. She felt like she wanted to do something more with her life and decide to explore opportunities in the health care industry. Her goal at the time was to apply to medical school.
She worked in the emergency room of a local hospital in Los Angeles at night and took science classes during the day. The ER was a great learning experience, the fast-paced energy and the ability to participate in the process of helping trauma victims on their road to recovery was awesome.
But there is another side of the ER clients; those that we referred to as the “regulars.” Those with alcohol abuse issues, suicidal attempts, chronic disease, depression and those suffering from the results of side effects from their prescription medications. My heart went out to the “regulars.” I felt like there had to be a better way to help theses suffering individuals.
I began to explore complementary medical schools, but nothing really resonated with me until I was in San Francisco on business and decided to check out a Homeopathic Medical School located in the City. Homeopathy looks at the totality of the person – mentally, physically and emotionally, and helps the body heal itself. The ultimate goal of the homeopath is to help the client achieve mental, emotional and physical balance through the use of homeopathic remedies. This spoke to my heart and I knew that homeopathy was the direction for me.
I am the co-founder and President of Homeopathy Institute of the Pacific, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
